Coosa County graphite samples shipped to multiple Department of Defense battery providers

SHARE NOW

TORONTO, Ontario. – Alabama Graphite Corp. (AGC) announced that it has manufactured and shipped samples of its battery ready graphite to two U.S. based potential end users. The samples included two specifications of its Coated Spherical Purified Graphite (CPSG) and two specifications of the CPSG byproduct, Purified Micronized Graphite (PMG). All samples were sourced and manufactured at the Company’s property in Coosa County, Alabama.

The first shipment was sent to a leading United States Department of Defense (DoD) battery manufacturer which will test AGC’s product to see if it can be used in defense critical technologies. This company, which has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command, is set to be the soul-source provider to manufacture a lithium-iron battery to power a next generation electromagnetic weapon. The Chief Technology Officer of the unnamed company stated that the DoD has instructed them to use American-sourced materials when possible.

The second potential end user, which also entered into a non-disclosure agreement with AGC, is a research and development company for both the DoD and the Department of Energy (DoE). This company, which also has corporate clients including global commercial battery makers, will provide a basic independent evaluation of AGS’s materials. According to AGC officials, if the evaluation is successful, AGC’s CSPG and/or PMG will serve as the research company’s laboratory standard for battery ready graphite, especially for DoD and DoE funded projects.

AGC President and CEO, Donald Baxter, stated, “AGC’s business strategy continues to be validated by numerous DoD contractors and manufacturers expressing that sourcing specialty input materials from within the United States is of critical importance to them. With a ‘DoD First’ approach, AGC is focused on becoming a U.S.-sourced-and-manufactured green-energy supply chain producer for the United States government and defense sectors’ battery solutions providers.” Mr. Baxter added, “Pending the initiation and completion of a positive Feasibility Study, followed by project financing and construction of a graphite mine and downstream CSPG production facilities, I firmly believe that AGC will be a viable domestic upstream supply option for these and other American lithium-ion battery manufacturing entities.”

AGC also announced it has entered into three additional non-disclosure agreements with DoD lithium-ion battery manufacturers and suppliers, bringing its total to 9. The purpose of the agreements are to carry on conversations and evaluations of AGC’s samples. The names of these companies are not being released for reasons of commercial confidentiality.

AGC says it will continue to update shareholders and the market on future developments in a timely fashion.
