SHARE NOW

Anslee Vinson, an 18 year old senior at Childersburg High School, recently signed a scholarship to play softball at Judson College in Marion, Alabama.

Vinson, the daughter of Becky and Robert Vinson, is a lifelong resident of Childersburg.

Vinson has compiled a great stat book as she leaves her high school to further her playing career at the next level. Her senior season saw  66 plate appearances with 25 hits, totaling a .379 batting average.  She also smacked one home run while compiling three triples, eight doubles, and 13 more singles.  She only had seven strikeouts in her 66 at bats.

Playing shortstop this season and commanding the infield, she recorded just two errors all season.

Vinson has participated in softball for six years and also played volleyball for five years.

Coach Tom Hannah of the Judson Eagles said that Anslee has a tremendous opportunity to maybe start for the Eagles at second base her freshman year, and could possibly even get time at third this year, which is one of the hardest positions to play in softball.

One person Vinson credits her competitive nature and athletic abilities to is the late Todd Reaves.  She said, “Coach Reaves always pushed me further than I wanted to go and made it so enjoyable to play the game.”

She also believes that her present coaches, Hillary Rogers and Nathan Barrett. She explained the two helped her in countless ways, being a huge reason for her to be able to play at the next level.

Excelling in the classroom also, Vinson is graduating Magna Cum Laude and received  received all A’s her senior year.
