Childersburg City Council meeting report – Dec. 18, 2018

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met Tuesday night, Dec. 18, at 6:00 p.m. with the following agenda items for action:

The Council held a public hearing regarding consideration of telecommunication tower located at 32400 Hwy. 280 at the recommendation of the Planning Commission. The proposed tower will be located off Hwy. 280 behind Stewart Automotive. It is intended to fill a local coverage gap for Sprint in the area, but it will also be capable of handling future needs for other carriers, including 5G coverage when it is available. Following the public hearing, the Council approved the tower.

Resolution 2018-31 was approved honoring Honorable Chad E. Woodruff for his service as Childersburg Municipal Court Judge since 2014.

The Council approved Resolution 2018-32 which authorizes Mayor Wesson to sign documents for a bond issue with Frazier and Lanier.

Also approved was Resolution 2018-33, awarding a CDBG demolition bid to Teague Hauling and Demolition, LLC (Michael Garcia).

The Council approved Resolution 2018-34, awarding another CDBG demolition bid to Cutting Edge (Daniel Mims).

Also gaining approval was Resolution 2018-35, which authorizes Mayor Wesson to execute agreement with Norfolk Southern/CSX Railroads for short line operator at the Industrial Park.

The Council approved the purchase of two sets of bleacher seating for the new softball field at a listed cost of $4,285 per set, but a discount is expected.

Invoice payment was approved in the amount of $237,755.58.

The next regular scheduled meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at 6:00 p.m.
