While there will not be sudden changes in the day to day operations, the effort is geared to acknowledge the people who make up the customer-base for local businesses. Many of those who work locally and those that attend classes at the local community college do not necessarily call Childersburg home. However, according to the Chamber, they are vital to the City’s prospects for growth and prosperity.

Each board member had their own ideas as to why this was positive move forward. The belief: a unanimous consensus that the future – both short and long term – is bright in Childersburg.

“A number of factors combine to create the collective attitude that the greater Childersburg area is poised for a lot of positives in the form of industrial and commercial growth,” said Chamber President/CEO Tom Roberts. “From a growing number of serious inquiries into industrial properties to a strong, organized effort to revitalize the downtown business district, things are looking up. And this new name can only help by sending a resounding signal to potential investors in the economic development of the community, that our trade market literally reaches well beyond the physical confines of the Childersburg city limits.”

The business community of a small rural city usually depends upon “outside” shoppers and workers, the tens of thousands who live in neighboring cities, towns, and communities, as well as those who live in the vast unincorporated areas in the region. Childersburg is no different.

“This name acknowledges the size of the entire trade market, the Greater Coosa Valley, and the importance of embracing that to better support what we already have, and to encourage and attract even more targeted business & industry,” said Roberts. “Or, as I like to point out, we’re bigger than we think we are. And business & industry need to know that as we reach out to our family, friends, and neighbors that make up the Greater Coosa Valley for positive growth and prosperity.”
