SYLACAUGA, Ala. – B.B. Comer began its 2018 football campaign 0-2, but when the clock read 00:00 at the end of the fourth quarter in Legion Stadium Friday night the Tigers were up – big.
The Tigers’ 40-7 blowout win over Glencoe not only marked the teams first win of the year, but first-year head coach Adam Fossett’s first win in black and gold.
“This is where we want to be and where we want to stay,” Fossett said of his family. “I hope this is the first of many more wins to come. It was great to see the kids enjoy it because they put in all the work.”
Overall, Friday night’s win over Glencoe was a complete team effort as the Tigers scored a touchdown in all three phases of the game – offense, defense and special teams.
Running back Jason McMillon carried the ball 14 times for 130 yards and two scores. McMillon also recorded 13 tackles on defense. Ward Rush and Raphaele Johnson also recorded a touchdown each on the ground.
Jarrod Looney returned a kickoff for 80 yards and Coby McCain returned an interception for a touchdown.
“We found a way in every game up until Friday to shoot ourselves in the foot, but this time we capitalized on a lot of mistakes Glencoe made,” Fossett said. “It was good to see all of our work pay off.”
This week the Tigers are preparing to go on the road to Randolph County High School. View pictures from Monday’s practice below.
