The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation is thrilled to offer a weather radio programming event to the senior citizens of our community. ABC 33/40’s meteorologist Evan Chickvara will be at the Maxye Veazey Senior Center on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon to check and program weather radios for those who are age 55+. Seniors are asked to bring their own weather radios to be checked and/or programmed; however, thanks to the generosity of Bill Pharr with Area Real Estate, Inc., they will be able to offer 20 free weather radios to seniors who do not have a weather radio or the means to purchase one.
The Maxye Veazey Senior Center is located at the side of the J. Craig Smith Community Center. Participants should enter at the porte-co with rocking chairs.
