SYLACAUGA, Ala. – B.B. Comer Memorial Library’s Adult Brown Bag Series audiences have enjoyed great presenters and interesting topics for more than twenty years. The weekly, Wednesday lunch series will resume starting Sept. 13. This year’s theme, “Time Slips Away,” will not disappoint with an array of stories from the past, as well as stories addressing many of today’s topics.

Library Director Tracey Thomas said she is proud to continue the adult lecture series tradition. Thomas said the established Brown Bag audience, as well as newcomers, are invited to welcome rhythm and blues singer Elnora Spencer, to kick off the series with her beautiful vocals and combination of keyboard, bass, and drum talents.

“After Elnora’s ‘jazzy blues’ kick-off, we will have refreshments at 11:00 a.m. and programs at 12:00 p.m. for the next seven weeks,” said Thomas. “That’s a big commitment and we appreciate those who help make this possible — the volunteers, the attentive audience, the talented presenters, and the sponsors — SouthFirst Bank, B. B. Comer Library Foundation, and Coosa Valley Medical Center. We also appreciate [RadioAlabama/Yea!106.5/WYEA!1290] and other media outlets for getting the word out that food, fellowship, and ‘painless learning’ awaits at the Comer Library!”

All Brown Bag Series events will start promptly each Wednesday in the Harry I. Brown auditorium. Other upcoming programs include:

September 20: David Alsobrook — “Southside: Eufaula’s Lost Cotton Mill Village and Its People—1890 to 1945”
September 27: Denise George – “Behind Nazi Lines — The Unbelievable True Story of a World War II Alabama Hero”
October 4: Leah Rawls Atkins — “Shug Jordan—A Quiet Heroism in World War II”
October 11: Alex Colvin – “Maintaining Kinship Ties in the Creek Indian Nation”
October 18: Wayne Flynt with Nancy Anderson — “Harper Lee: In Her Own Words”
October 25: Jim Hansen – “Taking Neil Armstrong to Hollywood”
November 1: Dolores Hydock – “Stories of Change Over Time”
