Woodmen Life supports B. B. Comer Memorial Library Foundation

SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Faye Allen and Debbie Pearce, representing Woodmen Life, Chapter 1137, presented a gift to the B. B. Comer Memorial Library Foundation to support the programs and services of the Comer Library.

Tracey Thomas, Director of the Comer Library, accepted the gift, thanking the associates and Regional Manager, Mr. Phillip Robertston, for Woodmen Life’s financial support, the helping hands volunteer work, and the beautiful patriotic flags that have graced the library grounds for many years.

Mrs. Thomas said, “Partners like Woodmen Life and their associates help Sylacauga have a better library to be enjoyed by citizens from parts of four counties—free of charge!  Faye Allen is a lovely hostess for our lecture series and she and Debbie, along with other Woodmen Life members, have helped sponsor the delicious refreshments for our programs. We appreciate them more than we can express.”

B.B. Comer Memorial Library Foundation:  “Created solely for the betterment of Comer Library!”

The B. B. Comer Memorial Library Foundation was formed in 1991 to support the mission of the library – to provide services and materials for the education, enrichment and entertainment of the people of the greater Sylacauga area. Service is free for citizens within the library’s service area regardless of age, place of residence, and socioeconomic status. Patrons come to the library from a twenty-mile radius that includes parts of four counties; yet, the funding is almost totally from the City of Sylacauga. This generous service is evidence of a long-standing commitment to an informed citizenry by municipal government officials.

The B.B. Comer Memorial Library is the largest, best-stocked library in the state for a town the size of Sylacauga.  Providing technology allows for knowledge explosion and expanded access to users.  New technology allows far better library service, but the rising cost of materials and the initial cost of conversion creates the need for additional funding and continued upgrading of the library program.

The Library Foundation will accept gifts of cash, property, securities, or real estate.  Contributions may be made through trust arrangements, bequests in wills and by naming the Foundation as beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Your gift can be designated as an honor, gift, or memorial with a nice letter sent to friends and loved ones.
