SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The bus holding food and toys for the First Annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ Food and Toy Drive presented by SylacaugaNews.com and Yea!106.5 received a significant donation from local high school athletes. Thursday night, all SHS basketball teams arrived at the Chamber of Commerce with grocery bags full of food in order to help those in need.

“We want kids to realize there are things more important than themselves,” said Varsity Boys Basketball Coach Will Copeland. “There are people out there in need, and we just want the kids to realize what all they’re blessed with.”

Copeland said it is a pleasure to coach a group of unselfish kids and that it is very important to develop a habit of giving back early in life. The players seemed to have learned that lesson.

“At Sylacauga High School, we just love the kids,” stated Derrick Carter. Carter is a member of the boys varsity team. “We just want to help them in any way we can and give back our blessings.”

“We would like to thank the SHS basketball program for coming out and supporting this cause,” said Michael Brannon. Brannon is the Managing Editor of SylacaugaNews.com and Director of Business Development of Marble City Media. “The teams went above and beyond expectation and I know many people will have a better holiday season because of their actions.”

Time is running out for you to help support ‘Stuff the Bus’. The food and toy drive ends today at 5:00 p.m. You can drop your donations off at the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce or at the SylacaugaNews.com and Yea!106.5 studios on Motes Rd.
