TALLADEGA, Ala. – The City of Talladega is set to be home to one of east-central Alabama’s leading urgent care providers, MainStreet Family Urgent Care.

The plan has been in the works for nearly a year according to the company’s marketing director Betsy Stewart.

The clinic, which is growing rapidly, already operates in nine different facilities throughout the state. The Talladega facility will be the tenth.

Stewart said opening an office in Talladega was an easy decision. She said she feels Talladega and the surrounding areas are growing and the people in the are should not have to travel to other areas to get health care. To Stewart, opening a new facility is about convenience for the people of Talladega.

“There is a great hospital here. But people need a place to go when they aren’t facing a life-threatening circumstances,” she said. “We want to help people stay close to home and if we can do that it will be a win for everyone.”

The new 3,200 square-foot facility will feature multiple exam rooms, on site lab testing and have X-ray capabilities. The clinic will not only provide treatment for everyday sicknesses, but it will also perform a number of diagnostic tests and minor procedures.

“Not only will the state of the art clinic in Talladega significantly advance the delivery of quality and efficient health care services to patients, but we also hope the convenient services and friendly staff will make the entire ordeal of being sick or injured a much more pleasant experience,” said MainStreet Family Urgent Care Medical Director Timothy Taylor, M.D.
The clinic will be located on E. Battle St. in front of the Dollar General. Maxus Construction will break ground on the site on May 11. MainStreet Family Urgent Care plans to open its doors to the public sometime in August of this year.
