CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The daughters and family of Ms. Helen Thomas hosted a kickoff event for the Forget Me Not Hat Ministry on Friday.

The event was held at the Forget-Me-Not Flower Shop and the morning was focused on the official launch of the Forget Me Not Hat Ministry. The ministry focuses on providing headwear to patients facing cancer. Ms. Helen Thomas, founder and breast cancer survivor, was the focal point of the morning. Thomas was a former patient at CVMC Oncology.

Coosa Valley Medical Center Oncology Center sponsored the event. It provided a beautiful set up and refreshments for all attendees.

“Today we celebrated Helen Thomas’s vision. Her vision is to provide headwear to not only breast cancer patients but to men and women with any cancer,” said Robin Angelo, director of Coosa Valley Medical Oncology Cancer Center. “We are blessing and celebrating the vision that Helen Thomas has for the Forget Me Not ministry.”

Attendees were asked to bring a scarf, hat, or wig to help contribute to the ministries goal of providing for those facing hard battle of cancer.

“We had a wonderful turn out! We are just so blessed that my mom was able to see her dream come true,” said Karen Thomas Clennan, daughter of Ms. Helen Thomas. “She has wanted to make sure that everyone in need will have a wig, hat, or scarf so that they can have something to continue to look beautiful and to feel hope and love.”

By the end of the event, numerous pieces of headwear had been collected, and the event was an overall success according to organizers.
