CVMC screens athletes for upcoming sports season physicals

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – This week, Coosa Valley Medical Center hosted area athletes for annual sports physicals. More than 900 students received health screenings and physicals at the First Baptist Church in an event hosted by Coosa Valley Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Department, athletic trainers, physicians, and other CVMC team members, benefiting coaches, students, and parents.

A requirement by the AHSAA for any sport, these physicals will help prepare students who plan to play a sport during the next school year.

“This is just another way CVMC can give back to our community,” said Chief Business Development Officer Vanessa Green. “We are proud to be able to serve such a great community.”

Coosa Valley Medical Center is the area’s most modern acute-care hospital. In addition to a dedicated team of 615 employees and 60 volunteers, CVMC’s medical staff is comprised of approximately 40 active staff members plus nearly 100 on its courtesy, consulting, and emergency department teams. An independent, community, non-profit medical center with 248 licensed beds, its inpatient services include a 13-bed Level Two Emergency Department treating some 30,000 patients annually, and ambulatory/outpatient services provide treatment to 61,000 patients each year.
