Coosa Valley Medical Center honors auxiliary members

SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA, Ala – Coosa Valley Medical Center held the annual Auxiliary Award Banquet at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday.

The CVMC Auxiliary is a group of retired men and women who volunteer their time at the hospital participating in service projects and fundraisers to support and buy supplies for CVMC.

“For over 33 years, our Auxiliary has been making a difference not only by the bedside of our guest and patients but in our community as well,” said Vanessa Green, Chief Business Development Officer of CVMC. “They are the hands, feet, and heart of Coosa Valley Medical Center.”

People in pink and red jackets filled every chair in the room Thursday. Pink jackets represented the females, and in red were the males. Each of these selfless members of the Sylacauga community were recognized for their outstanding volunteer efforts at CVMC.

Green started out the event with a warm welcome and continued to mediate the program until its completion.

CVMC’s Hickory Street Cafe provided the meal to everyone in attendance featuring beef, homemade mash potatoes, green beans, salad, and rolls. A variety of specialty cakes from Magnolia’s were a sweet treat for some truly ‘sweet’ members of the community.

Mrs. Lavelle McGalliard was the keynote speaker. She focused on reminding the attendees about the importance of touch in day to day tasks and work. She encouraged each person to touch onto the Lord and then touch the life of someone else.

Thirty-three individuals were recognized for their amount of service hours in past year ranging from one hundred to five thousand hours. One by one each stood up and received a pin of recognition.

There was one sure star of the program. Mrs. Montine Webb was the single recipient of the thirty-three thousand hour award. She was thanked with a standing ovation.

New officers were also installed to the six board positions available. Officers explained the upcoming Tree of Love fundraiser’s goals to help buy new wheelchairs for the patients at CVMC.

CVMC Team member Penne Swearingen performed two selections throughout the program as a tribute to each member of the Auxiliary. The program concluded with a video presentation highlighting different hospital departments thanking the Auxiliary members for all of their dedication.

The program was successful in recognizing the many members of the CVMC Auxiliary who continue to work hard and bring a light of joy within the halls of the hospital.
