ROCKFORD, Ala. – An escaped inmate has been re-captured by the Coosa County Sheriff Department.

According to the Coosa County Sheriffs office, 27-year-old Shane Anthony Vernon, a resident of Rockford, escaped from the Coosa County Jail as he was being processed around 3:00 p.m. on Oct. 29.

Vernon was being charged with Burglary Third Degree and Theft of Property Second Degree. CCSO says Vernon was able to escape and flee from the facility after forcibly removing his restraints.

After 12 hours on the run, Vernon was seen on foot in the Rockford area shortly after daybreak on Monday morning. Soon after, Vernon was recaptured by the CCSO.  Vernon is now back in the Coosa County Jail.
